Keep Scotland Beautiful Biodiversity Action

Why this award?

The Biodiversity Action course is for secondary school pupils and leads toward relevant, effective action they can take for biodiversity.    It is accredited by the SQA at SCQF level 4.  Teaching resources are provided and include interactive, outdoors, and game-based approaches to learning and teaching. 

Course aims:

  • Awareness and understanding of the causes and consequences of biodiversity loss.
  • A personal connection to the natural world. 
  • Motivation to take action to address biodiversity loss through changed behaviours, systems and physical spaces.

Who is it for?

This course will benefit secondary school pupils, their teachers, and the whole school community.

We all depend on a healthy natural world and the many benefits that gives us, from clean water to nutritious food, from medicines to clothing, from raw materials to recycling of waste.

This course is only free to state schools.

What time commitment is required?

This course is assigned a notional 12.5 hours to complete.  Duration of the course depends on timetabling.

Is the award externally accredited?

This course has been accredited by the SQA at SCQF level 4 and Quality Assessed by the SQA.
