15 May 2017

The Awards Network has approved a new Strategy to guide its work during 2017 to 2020. Archaeology Scotland joins the Awards Network

18 Apr 2017

The Awards Network is delighted to welcome Archaeology Scotland as its first Associate Member.

Eila Macqueen, Director of Archaeology Scotland, said “We are delighted to be part of the Awards Network family bringing our new Heritage Hero Awards to the range of exciting options for making the most out of youth-led personal development opportunities.”

The Heritage Hero Awards were launched by Archaeology Scotland in early 2017 following an extensive pilot involving schools, local heritage and youth groups. The awards aim to encourage young people to connect with their past, and to reward their achievement. The programme has been developed with the Curriculum for Excellence at its core, providing benefits to participants of skills development, improved self-confidence as well as opportunities to learn outdoors. The commitment required to achieve each award increases over 5 levels from 3+ hours for Heritage Explorer to 60+ hours to achieve the Gold Heritage Hero Award.

The Awards Network promotes the participation and achievements of young people gained through youth work awards. It works to ensure that youth awards are widely valued and recognised as critical evidence of every young person’s leaning and achievement.
