SkillForce Scotland SkillForce Prince’s Award

Why this award?

The SkillForce Prince’s Award, supported by our Royal Patron HRH The Duke of Cambridge KG KT, is unique. It is designed to help students develop teamwork, problem-solving and leadership skills as well as boost their confidence and help them communicate more effectively. The award is a great opportunity for pupils age 8 -14+ to enjoy and value learning whilst gaining skills for life.

Part of an innovative collection of character and resilience education programmes, this 12 or 18 week award improves motivation and encourages the development of the attributes needed to form positive relationships, including respect, empathy and trust. It offers exciting challenges and reflective learning which include learning practical skills such as bushcraft and gaining nationally recognised certificates in First Aid and Navigation.

Who is it for?

For all children and young people from ages 8 to 14+, in classes / groups up to 30.

What time commitment is required?

The SPA requires 2 hours per week and 12 weeks (minimum) which can be extended to 18 weeks for additional modules.

Is the award externally accredited?

Participants gain a Skillforce Prince’s Award certificate through the programme. Whilst the SkillForce Prince’s Award is not itself externally accredited, the programme offers the opportunity for participants to secure additional recognition of achievement through Nationally recognised awards for sports leadership, First Aid and navigation. The 18 week award option delivers the SLQ Sports Leader Playmaker Certificate.
